Where is cartagena?

Cartagena is located on Colombia's northern coast. Cartagena is a city steeped in history and surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.The Old City of Cartagena. Also known as "Centro", is the historic heart of Cartagena where you can find a variety of beautiful boutique hotels as well as restaurants, bars and shops. Staying in this area will ensure that you are within walking distance to almost everything you need. Bocagrande is the modern tourist hub for Cartagena. Located only 10-15 minutes south of the Old City by taxi, this area is filled with beach-lined hotels who's names you will recognise (Hilton, Hyatt, Intercontinental etc). La Boquilla is another modern area of Cartagena that is approximately 10 minutes from the Old City by taxi. This area is quieter, with lovely hotels and many apartment and AirBnB options.

  • Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) is the primary airport serving Cartagena, located less than 5 miles from the city center. There are non-stop flights from New York City, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale!  

  • We recommend taking taxis directly from your hotel. Uber is also a convenient transportation option.
